We spoke to Laura about her work, and what inspires and excites her for the year ahead.
What inspires and drives you?
I like to think there’s an underlying thread across my projects of aspirational beauty. I like to create high-calibre experiences, but it’s important to me that fashion is democratic – I’m really not into the exclusivity or clique that can be associated with fashion.
What are you working on right now?
I’m already well into planning for this year’s major projects.
With BFM 2019, I’m aiming to broaden the perception of fashion in the community through artistic collaborations and partnerships with government. Champagne and a runway show is a quick fashion fix, but it doesn’t leave much of a lasting impression on the audience.
We work hard to ensure our designers have the best opportunity for return on investment and provide access to business advice through our annual business workshop. I’m passionate about supporting the industry that has supported me in my career so far.
Who are you collaborating with right now?
I’m really lucky to have found a team I trust and admire. I do a lot of the project work myself, but my event team consists of Stylists Jessinta Jones and Liz Golding, as well as an Event Manager and PR company. We’re growing this year and the future is exciting!
