Jackie Damelian is the owner and Creative Director of Jackie Mack Designs, an Australian contemporary semi-fine jewellery brand for women. The Tesoro Collection - which translates to ‘treasure’ in Spanish - features delicate earrings to large hoops, dainty ear cuffs and whimsical necklaces. The latest collection - Grace - features dainty earrings that allows women to create their own look for everyday wear.

Describe yourself and your designs to us?
I’ve been heavily influenced by my roots, family, travelling, and a life peppered by many ups and downs that have shaped my career and entrepreneurial journey in the most profound way.
I’m regularly searching for ways to improve business operations, allocating the necessary time to the creative direction for each collection, and exploring how I can further elevate the brand and enhance our customer experience.
I enjoy getting into the vortex of creativity, it’s where the overall vision of the brand evolves, and many designs are considered for the next collection. Lots of mood boards, colours, textures are explored during this time.
Our jewellery is semi-fine, plated in 18k Gold, White Gold and 14k Rose Gold. And with an understated beauty design in mind, the ‘Tesoro’ Collection is all about delicate ear adornments with cubic zirconia detailing and earrings and necklaces perfect for layering. The Grace Collection complements ‘Tesoro’ by adding dainty earrings that reveal an opportunity for the consumer to create their own look for everyday wear.
How did it all begin for Jackie Mack Designs?
In 2018, I took over Jackie Mack Designs from my mother and made it my own by relaunching the brand with a new aesthetic and vision. Our new focus for the brand was an understated beauty look for everyday wear, with playful layering of earrings and necklaces.
I connected with some very talented professionals in the creative industry that helped me create the first campaign - the Tesoro Collection, which launched in October 2018. Our most recent collection – Grace – is composed by dainty earrings that will make you wish you had more ear piercings!
What is a standout moment in shaping the Jackie Mack brand?
There have been so many to name, but to this day reading feedback from our customers and praise for the designs and customer service is very rewarding. Also having our brand worn by celebrities has been incredible and a standout moment.
What designs has you excited right now?
The Grace Collection recently launched and it is wonderful that is has been so well received. To feel validated by our customers and have them supporting our brand and being so kind in sending emails and messages to share how much they love their jewellery is very rewarding.
And while I’m excited about the success of the Tesoro and Grace Collections, creating the next collection is very thrilling.

What advice do you have for emerging designers?
Don’t wait for the perfect time to get started, the longer you wait and justify your fear of launching the further away you are from success.
Start sketching your designs, get samples of your work and get feedback from people that match your ideal customer. Learn all you can, find a mentor that can guide you in the right direction and know your financials so that you can make informed decisions about your business.
