Crafted in precious metals, Sit & Wonder’s pieces speak to the jewellery lover, looking for quality, yet accessible designs that can be worn as an everyday luxury. She is modern, has a strong sense of style, an appreciation for minimalism, and views jewellery not only as adornment, but as a carefully considered curation of her style. Sit & Wonder jewels are designed to be layered and stacked, to tell a unique story that is timeless, effortless and versatile.
The brand was founded in late 2016 by Sydney based designer, Emily Ko, after a life changing career move, in which she embraced the sentiment:
“If I never do this, I’ll always sit and wonder...”
With a love for craftsmanship and design, Emily created the label to meet the need for premium, yet accessible fine jewellery, in a market saturated by two extremes: fast- fashion and unattainable luxury. With each collection, Emily endeavours to bridge this divide, providing other jewellery lovers with quality designs, at attainable price points.
Sit & Wonder jewels are crafted in precious metals of sterling silver and solid 9k gold, carefully paired with a selection of gemstones. By using quality materials in solid gold and silver, the pieces are built for longevity, fade-proof, and require minimal maintenance over time. Their signature offering includes dainty, fine pieces, designed to be layered and stacked. Each season, Sit & Wonder release new designs, intended to complement and build upon previous collections. They always feature elements of both simple and classic shapes, as well as modern details, inspired by a theme or mood that holds significance to the designer.
The Sit & Wonder woman is a modern professional, she is confident, driven and has a strong sense of her own personal style. She’s a beauty maven and wishes to travel the world. She has reached a point in her life where passing trends do not mater. Her tastes are evolving and she’s now searching for quality over quantity. Her jewellery is more than adornment, it’s her personal style statement, carefully curated and considered. She spoils herself with little luxuries that integrate seamlessly with her busy lifestyle.
Describe yourself and your designs to us?
Our design aesthetic is dainty, fine and delicate with the intention of being layered to create your own unique look. My designs very much reflect my own style and attitude towards fashion. I love minimalism, neutral palettes and accenting my outfits with luxurious and subtle elements of gold or silver jewels.
How did it all begin for your brand?
I took a year off from my corporate job and decided to sort through my life, figuratively and literally! As I was clearing out my wardrobe, I noticed that I had accumulated over $1000 worth of fashion jewellery, that was being unworn and deteriorating in my jewellery box. Being fed up with the waste and disposability of fast fashion jewellery, I set out to create a line of fine jewellery that would last, but was also affordable.
What is a stand out moment in shaping your brand?
Getting direct feedback from customers. I’ve implemented changes over time to give customers what they want and it has been so rewarding to hear their positive feedback!
What creative work has you excited right now?
I’m currently working with different gemstones and organic shapes for our next collection.
What do you love to do most to relax?
My favourite thing would be to take a trip somewhere. But otherwise, I love a quiet night in watching a movie with my husband and my four cats cuddled around us!
