Chiara Leto is an Italian-English textile designer and illustrator. She grew up in Rome in a house filled with exotic prints from her fathers travels and her mother’s own artwork. Over the last five years Chiara has lived and travelled between Australia, New Zealand, South East Asia and Europe. Her work began as a form of playful escapism that brought to life the forms and the structures that opened up during her trips.

Through meditation and the ‘longer look’ she learned to appreciate the strange wild beauty that can be found in every object and landscape - in the urban and the natural. It was in Bali that she felt inspired to anchor down and to make what can be shared. Using slow methods of Balinese screen printing her intention is to share a little stillness - to create work that reminds us to appreciate the colour, the detail and the inner workings of what we already have.
