Established in 2018, Charmaé is an independent Australian designed fashion brand based in Melbourne, with a Studio in the hinterland of Byron Bay on the Far North Coast of Australia. Evolved from over twenty years of experience within design, production, fabric development, buying and sales; Charmaé has been created through an admiration for sensual clarity.
The brand's signature is found in luxurious fabrications, exclusive prints and unique embroideries in non structured silhouettes. Charmaé’s philosophy has been built with a commitment to sustainable fashion and exemplary construction. Founded in the principle of quality, ethereal freedom and the sensuality in effortless luxury. A contemporary womenswear brand, using premium fabrics, refined techniques and finishes, with a touch of resort for everyday elevated daywear.
How it all began for Charmaé?
Once upon a time a young lass from the Byron hinterland was beset with making everything into a dress, from shells to metal and a collection of vintage leather off cuts. With a love of art and fashion, pencils and fabric, I (Charmaine) was granted the window of David Jones for Art express, a scholarship to Whitehouse School of Fashion and then spent three devoted years to the Sydney Design Studio. Versace and DKNY took her hand along the retail road. A sponsorship through Grand Marnier followed and I showcased in Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australian and worked for the Great Charles Parsons. This concreted my obsession for quality fabrics, exclusive prints, finishes and developed fabric constructions. Twenty years later, drawing from my many experiences working amongst brands such as Richard De Chazal, Jeff Carr @ Collette Dinnigan, Ojay, and other Australian Labels, I found that I elevated my proficiency in design, production, fit, fabric sourcing and development.

She loves contemporary high end slow fashion, with a touch of resort and timeless luxury. She appreciates quality pieces that are made to last - she shops consciously being environmentally aware and appreciates finer things in her every day lifestyle.
What do you love to do to relax?
To recharge or relax I sketch - design - wine.
What advice do you have for emerging designers?
The best advice to give anyone emerging is do what you love and love what you do, passion and belief is the only way to succeed.
